Is hunger now driving some of our royal fathers?

 At a time when many of us are seeking God's face through prayer and fasting, believing that He will lead us into our Promised Land, it is heartbreaking to see that some of the very people who should be interceding for the peace, progress, and unity of our communities are instead sowing seeds of discord and confusion. 

The throne of a traditional ruler is a symbol of wisdom, justice, and fatherly guidance. A true father does not set his children against one another or speak from both sides of the mouth. As the saying goes, "When the shepherd fights the sheep, the flock becomes vulnerable to wolves." 

It is unfortunate that some people entrusted with honour and respect now engage in backbiting, gossip, and actions capable of creating unnecessary tension. A tree cannot destroy the forest that gives it life, and a person who digs a pit for others should remember that he may one day fall into it. 

Our royal fathers should be voices of peace, reconciliation, and truth. Their words should heal wounds, not deepen them. History remembers leaders who united their people, not those who divided them for personal interests or temporary gains. 

No society can make meaningful progress where envy, betrayal, and backbiting become the order of the day. When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside can do us no harm. Let us choose unity over division, truth over falsehood, and love over hatred. 

May God grant our royal fathers the wisdom of King Solomon, the courage to stand for justice, and the humility to lead with integrity. Let every leader remember that positions are temporary, but character and legacy remain forever. The crown is honoured not by its beauty but by the wisdom of the head that wears it. 

A HOUSE DIVIDED CANNOT STAND 

The political history of Ogun State is clear: despite the immense contributions of the Yewa/Awori people, Ogun West has never produced the Executive Governor of the state. Today, history has presented us with another opportunity to break that long-standing jinx. This is not the time for division, bitterness, or pulling one another down; it is the time to close ranks and speak with one voice. 

Our revered royal fathers, respected elders, political leaders, sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora must rise above personal interests and unite for a common cause. As the saying goes, "United we stand, divided we fall." When brothers fight themselves, strangers inherit their blessings. We must not allow selfish ambitions, envy, or internal rivalry to rob Ogun West of this historic opportunity. 

Let us remember that "a broom is unbreakable when its sticks are bound together." Every stakeholder has a role to play. This is the moment to put all hands on deck, build bridges instead of walls, and work collectively toward the realization of our shared aspiration. 

If Ogun West fails to achieve this governorship ambition again because of internal division, history will not be kind to us. Future generations will ask why we allowed a golden opportunity to slip through our fingers. Such a loss would not only be disappointing but a painful setback that could take many years to overcome. 

The time to act is now. Let us set aside our differences, embrace unity, and make history together. Opportunities like this do not come often. Let us not be remembered as the generation that watched the crown slip away because we could not stand together.
