Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have arrested a 43-year-old man, Abraham Michael, over the alleged abduction and rape of a 19-year-old woman in the Gasline area of Sango, Ogun State.
The State Commander of the Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday through the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi. He said the suspect was arrested following a distress call from the Shepherd-in-Charge of the Celestial Church of Christ, Christ Light Parish, Ijoko, Pastor Oluwaseyi Popoola, who reported that the victim, identified as Liasu Pelumi, had been missing for several days.
Ganzallo said the Divisional Officer of the Sango-Adalemo-Toll Gate Division, SC Okunuga Joseph, received credible information at about 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, that the missing teenager, who was under the pastor's care, had been abducted.
According to him, the pastor also revealed that an unidentified caller demanded a ransom of ₦60,000 for the victim's release.
He explained that acting on intelligence provided by a community member, operatives, with the approval of the Ado-Odo/Ota Zonal Commander, ACC Tajudeen Odunmbaku, stormed the suspect's residence on Idowu Akinsanya Street, Babaonigba, Gasline Road, Sango.
Although the suspect allegedly attempted to mislead the operatives, the officers located and rescued the victim before arresting him. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted that the victim had been in his custody since July 2, 2026.
The So-Safe Corps said the case had been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Sango Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and possible prosecution. Ganzallo reaffirmed the agency's commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities to security agencies.
