The Ogun State Amotekun Corps has intensified efforts to strengthen security across the state through intelligence-driven operations, technological upgrades, and expanded manpower as part of renewed strategies to tackle emerging security threats.
Brig Gen Alade Adedigba (Retired), Commanders of the security outfit stressed that effective regional security can only be achieved through collective responsibility, noting that collaboration among residents, security agencies, and government institutions remains vital.
They explained that actionable intelligence from members of the public remains the bedrock of successful security interventions, urging citizens to play active roles through timely information sharing.
Brig Gen Adedigba (Retired) further stated that to boost operational efficiency, the corps disclosed plans to recruit an additional 1,000 personnel, a move expected to significantly expand its workforce and improve response capacity across Ogun State's 20 local government areas.
The command also revealed that since the current administration came on board, operational assets have increased substantially, with over 60 additional vehicles and nearly 150 motorbikes deployed to strengthen field operations.
In a major technological shift, Ogun Amotekun has deployed advanced surveillance infrastructure, including CCTV systems strategically installed across all local government areas, complemented by drone technology and coordinated area patrols. Officials said these innovations are designed to improve crime monitoring, rapid response, and intelligence gathering in both urban and rural communities.
As recall, similar regional security enhancements have been recorded in other South-West states, particularly in Ondo State and Osun State, where Amotekun formations have expanded personnel strength and adopted modern surveillance strategies to address kidnapping, armed robbery, and cross-border criminal activities.
Security analysts say such coordinated regional reforms are becoming increasingly critical in addressing the evolving security landscape in the South-West.
Observers believe Ogun's latest investment in manpower, logistics, and intelligence technology signals a more aggressive approach to community-based security, positioning the state as one of the leading examples in regional policing innovation while reinforcing public confidence in grassroots security architecture.
