Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the construction of key road projects in Sagamu Local Government Area, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and driving socio-economic development. These projects include the Sagamu–Ode Road, Fadebo Street Road, Ajaka Road, and Likosi–Ogijo Road, marking another step in the governor's commitment to improving road infrastructure across the state.
Governor Abiodun made the announcement on Thursday during the commissioning of the newly completed Sagamu–Ayepe Road, a vital connector for economic and social activities. He emphasized the role of road infrastructure in spurring growth and enhancing connectivity, pointing out that the administration would continue to prioritize road construction and rehabilitation despite the considerable backlog of neglected infrastructure inherited from previous governments.
“This road is crucial for both Sagamu and the surrounding communities, linking key areas such as Odogbolu,” Governor Abiodun stated. “Our government is determined to address the long-standing infrastructural deficits and create a foundation for sustainable economic development.” He further noted that while significant progress has been made, there are still many roads that need urgent attention to ensure equal development across Ogun State.
The governor also highlighted his administration's broader achievements in key sectors such as health, education, housing, and sports, reiterating that the focus remains on governance and the delivery of tangible benefits to the people, despite occasional distractions from critics. “We will not be deterred by those seeking attention. Our goal is to improve the lives of the people of Ogun State,” he added.
Local leaders also praised the efforts. Hon. Jubril Odulate, Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, reflected on the years of neglect the Ayepe Road had suffered before the state’s intervention. Oba Musliu Soile, representing the Akarigbo of Remoland, called the new road a major relief for residents, while Alhaji Shamseeden Apelogun, National President of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle, Repairer, and Riders Association (ACOMORAN), lauded the road improvements for their potential to reduce hardship and stimulate economic growth.
