The YAYI Ni Wura Alliance Movement has begun an aggressive grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, targeting 100,000 votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, across Ogun State.
The group said it had attracted former supporters of opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party and African Democratic Congress, who had decided to join its campaign structure ahead of the elections.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the movement, Comrade Wasiu Adekunle Adejumo, popularly known as Westo, disclosed this at a press briefing in Ogun State on Thursday. Adejumo said members of the alliance were drawn from different political backgrounds but had united around their support for Tinubu’s re-election and Adeola’s governorship ambition. He said the group would continue to receive defectors and supporters from across the political divide, adding that some former members of opposition political structures had already joined the movement.
The State Coordinator, Comrade Akeem Shodiya, said the alliance had commenced a statewide mobilisation campaign aimed at taking its message to communities and grassroots political structures across Ogun.
According to him, the group would combine political mobilisation with community-oriented initiatives, including empowerment programmes and medical outreaches. Adejumo also pointed to a medical outreach at the State Hospital, Ijaye, as part of the activities undertaken by the movement, while highlighting what the group described as Adeola’s legislative and constituency interventions.
The alliance also declared its support for the APC candidates contesting the 2027 elections in Ogun State, including Senator Shuaib Salisu and Hon. Olumide Osoba. Adejumo said the group supported the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and believed some of its infrastructure and economic initiatives should be sustained.
The alliance, however, used the briefing to criticise opposition figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party chieftain Peter Obi, with Adejumo questioning some of their political positions and policy proposals.
With political activities gradually intensifying ahead of the 2027 elections, the alliance said it would deploy its structures across Ogun’s three senatorial districts in pursuit of its 100,000-vote mobilisation target.
Among those present at the briefing were Senatorial Leader, Hon. Gbenga Adewale; Hon. Joseph Akintunde; Alhaji Segun Saula; Hon. Kehinde Oluyooye; Comrade Moshood Ogundare; Hon. Funke; Hon. Toyin Kajogbola; and Comrade Temitope Ajayi, while the group’s Director-General, Dr. Iziak Salako, was also acknowledged.
