20-Year-Old Arrested Over Alleged School Burglary in Ogun

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 20-year-old man, Oyeleye Moshood, over an alleged burglary at Al-Lateef Group of Schools in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, a resident of Anuoluwapo Street, off Olomu, Ifo, was arrested following a complaint by the proprietor of the school, Alhaji Animasaun Jelili.

According to the State Commander of the corps, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the Ifo Zonal Command received information about the incident after the school security guard noticed on September 23, 2026, that the gate had been locked from inside and suspected that an intruder was in the premises.

The proprietor reportedly told the corps that the suspected burglar had removed several sliding windows, electrical wires, two ceiling fans and metal materials from the school.

However, the suspect reportedly fled after hearing footsteps, leaving behind a jalabia at the scene. The school owner said cases of burglary and theft had been recorded at the school, with the incidents becoming more frequent since January 2026.

The So-Safe Corps said its operatives used the clothing recovered from the scene and information gathered from residents in the neighbourhood to track down the suspect, who reportedly attempted to escape when he realised that security operatives were closing in on him.

He was eventually apprehended, while the suspect and recovered items were handed over to the Ifo Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
