The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector Command, has confirmed that seven persons were killed in a multiple road traffic crash that occurred at about 12:03am on Monday along the Ibafo-Lagos corridor at Kara, Ibafo.
The crash involved nine male victims and three vehicles—a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC, a white MACK trailer and a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number JJJ920YA. According to the FRSC, seven of the victims died in the crash, while two others sustained injuries.
The FRSC Ibafo Outpost received the distress call at about 12:04am and arrived at the scene five minutes later. The agency attributed the crash to suspected speed violation, pending further investigation. The deceased were evacuated by the Ogun State Ambulance Service, while the injured victims were taken to hospital for medical treatment. The vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Ibafo.
The Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, commiserated with the families of the deceased and urged motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles, to avoid excessive speed, maintain safe following distances and remain vigilant. He also advised motorists to exercise extra caution at night, noting that poor visibility and fatigue could increase the risk of crashes, while wishing the injured victims a speedy recovery.
