His Royal Majesty Oba (Engr) Mojeed Adesegun Rufai Alao. Olowo of Owo, Yewa South.has described as misleading a publication titled "No Mandate Given: Yewa Monarchs Fume, Deny Yayi Endorsements," insisting that the report does not represent the true position of Yewa traditional rulers on the endorsement of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
Speaking during a telephone conversation with our reporter, Oba Mojeed Adesegun Rufai Alao said the publication was capable of creating unnecessary confusion among the people of Yewaland, maintaining that the report was not a true reflection of the decision reached by the traditional institution regarding the endorsement of the senator.
The monarch explained that the endorsement of Senator Adeola was not the decision of the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, alone, stressing that it was a unanimous decision of Yewa traditional rulers.
He added that any attempt to portray the endorsement as the personal position of the Paramount Ruler was inaccurate and misleading.
Oba Alao also questioned the credibility of the publication, noting that it relied on unnamed monarchs without identifying any traditional ruler who openly denied the endorsement.
According to him, Yoruba tradition does not encourage respected monarchs to make public pronouncements anonymously, especially on matters of public importance.
He challenged any traditional ruler with a contrary position to publicly identify himself and state his views, rather than hiding behind anonymous sources. He maintained that no identifiable monarch had publicly contradicted the collective decision reached by the Yewa traditional institution.
The monarch further noted that Senator Adeola's acceptance extends beyond the traditional institution, pointing out that the lawmaker has also received endorsements from several organisations and stakeholder groups across Ogun State, including Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Ogun State, the Association of Non-Indigenes Resident in Ogun State, Arewa community organisations, youth groups, market leaders, women associations and other community-based bodies.
He described the publication as a calculated attempt to create division within Yewaland and divert public attention from what he called the growing support being enjoyed by Senator Adeola across the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
Oba Alao therefore urged members of the public to disregard reports based on anonymous claims and remain committed to peace, unity and issue-based political participation, insisting that political discussions should be guided by facts rather than misinformation.
