The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun Area 1 Command, has seized over 10,000 parcels of Cannabis Indica, popularly known as Ghana Loud, valued at more than 5 billion naira.

The seizure comes just 41 days after the command handed over 2,543 parcels of cannabis sativa to the NDLEA in Idiroko.

At a press briefing on Tuesday, Acting Customs Area Comptroller, Olukayode Afeni, revealed that the operation also intercepted thousands of other contraband items, including expired Maggi, foreign rice, vegetable oil, diesel, drugs without NAFDAC registration, secondhand clothing, footwear, organic honey, and even six live pangolins.

Afeni stressed that the seizures demonstrate the command’s determination to fight smuggling, protect national resources, and safeguard youths from the dangers of drugs, which can fuel crimes like armed robbery and kidnapping.

The confiscated items were handed over to the NDLEA, with Afeni commending collaborating agencies and stakeholders for their role in tackling illegal trade.
