The Ogun State Police Command has officially launched activities marking the 2026 Police Week, a week-long programme commemorating National Police Day
. The flag-off, held on Monday, 30th March 2026, was led by Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, psc(+), NPM. The opening day featured a free medical outreach and a statewide sanitation exercise aimed at promoting public health and community engagement.
The free medical services were provided by the Command’s Department of Force Medical Services at the NUJ Council Secretariat, Iwe Iroyin, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta. Residents benefited from blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, BMI assessments, and health talks focused on regular check-ups and exercise.
The Command expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (Ogun State Council) and media practitioners for their support and active participation in ensuring the success of the initiative.
In tandem, a comprehensive sanitation exercise was carried out across all Area Commands and Divisions in the state.
This initiative reflects the Ogun Police Command’s commitment to environmental cleanliness, public health, and fostering community participation, while underscoring a people-centered approach to policing.
Residents and beneficiaries of the programmes commended the police for their timely and impactful interventions. Many praised the combination of health services and environmental cleanliness as a clear demonstration of the Force’s dedication to the welfare of the public.
Commissioner Ojajuni reiterated the Command’s resolve to maintain strong community partnerships, proactive policing, and service excellence. Activities commemorating Police Week and the 2026 National Police Day will continue across Ogun State
throughout the week, highlighting the enduring commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the safety and wellbeing of all citizens.
