Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday commissioned Phase II of the 21-kilometre Imashayi–Igan-Okoto–Ayetoro Road in Yewa North Local Government Area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to completing the final phase of the strategic road project. The governor assured residents that the completion of the corridor would improve transportation, boost economic activities, and link farming communities to major towns, enhancing the movement of agricultural produce from farms to markets.
Governor Abiodun also directed the Ministry of Housing to inspect and commence renovations at the local Youth Development Centre, emphasizing his government’s dedication to youth empowerment and community development. While acknowledging that not all roads can be reconstructed simultaneously, he reiterated that his administration would continue to deliver road infrastructure across the state until the end of his tenure, particularly in the previously neglected Yewaland and Ogun West regions.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, explained that Phase II features reinforced concrete structures in flood-prone areas to prevent erosion, while the phased construction approach ensures efficiency. He highlighted that the road has significantly enhanced mobility, service delivery, security, and quality of life for residents, particularly farmers, who have benefited from improved access to markets.
The project has received widespread commendation from local leaders and residents. Chief (Mrs.) Yemisi Abass, Iyaloja General of Ogun State, and other traditional and political leaders praised Governor Abiodun for fulfilling his promise to complete the second phase, urging the swift completion of the final stage to further spur development and economic growth in the region.
