The Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed deep sorrow and outrage following the horrific terrorist attacks in Kwara State, which resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 162 people. The attacks took place in the villages of Woro and Nuku, where innocent civilians were brutally murdered by suspected Boko Haram militants.
In a heartfelt statement released on Saturday from Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun condemned the senseless violence, describing it as a cruel and inhumane act against law-abiding citizens who were simply going about their daily lives. The governor lamented the loss of life and the devastation caused, emphasizing that such atrocities should never be allowed to persist.
Abiodun also condemned the alleged targeting of residents who refused to adopt Sharia law, noting the destruction of homes and shops, as well as the abduction of several individuals by the attackers. He reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to secularism and freedom of religion, reiterating that no group or individual has the right to impose their beliefs on others through violence.
Calling for swift justice, Governor Abiodun urged Nigerian law enforcement agencies to track down and prosecute those responsible for this heinous crime. He stressed the need for a determined and unified effort to eliminate terrorism and ensure that such acts of violence are met with the full force of the law.
In closing, the Ogun State Governor extended his deepest condolences to Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq and the people of Kwara State. He called on the security agencies to intensify efforts in apprehending the terrorists and ensuring that the victims' families receive justice, pledging that the Southern
