To mark the momentous 50th anniversary of Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has declared February 3, 2026, a public holiday across the state. This move is aimed at allowing residents to fully engage in the various events lined up to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the state’s creation.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi. The public holiday will provide an opportunity for citizens to reflect on Ogun’s significant journey over the last five decades and participate in the planned festivities.
The statement emphasized that the Golden Jubilee not only commemorates the state’s political existence but also celebrates its steady growth and remarkable contributions to Nigeria's national development.
Governor Abiodun called on all Ogun citizens to join in the celebrations with a spirit of unity and peace, while reiterating his administration’s ongoing commitment to building on past successes and driving the state’s development agenda forward for the betterment of all.
