SO-SAFE CORPS APPREHENDS SUSPECT FOR ASSAULT, VICTIM SUTURES

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, codenamed So-Safe Corps, has handed over a 50-year-old man, identified as Mr. Kazeem Adeoye, to the Ifo Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force, for further investigation over an alleged assault involving a 44-year-old woman, Mrs. Oladeyinde Morufat, and her daughter, Mariam, at Shonde, Iyana-Ifote, Lisa, Ifo, Ogun State.

This is contained in a statement by the State Commander, Cmdr. (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo and disclosed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

The incident was reported on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at about 4:45pm, when the complainant approached the Olayemi/Demokula Divisional Headquarters to report an alleged assault involving herself and her daughter.

According to the complainant's account, she was returning from church with her children when an altercation reportedly arose between her and the suspect's sons, Abdullah and Ope, who were riding a motorcycle.

The complainant alleged that the suspect subsequently entered her compound without permission and began verbally abusing members of her family. She further alleged that during the ensuing confrontation, the suspect's wife struck her on the head with a wooden stick, causing her to bleed.

Afterwards, the complainant reportedly discovered that her daughter, Mariam, had sustained a visible laceration on her forehead, which she attributed to an alleged physical assault by the suspect.

Following the report, the Divisional Officer, SC Innocent Matthew, directed a team of two officers to apprehend the suspect for investigation.

During interrogation, Mr. Adeoye reportedly admitted entering the complainant's compound. He claimed that his children had informed him that her children were deliberately obstructing their path while they rode their bicycle. According to the suspect, he went to the compound to warn the family, but the encounter escalated into a physical altercation.

The suspect reportedly admitted that both the complainant and her daughter sustained injuries during the incident.

Upon observing the injuries sustained by the complainant and her daughter, the Divisional Officer directed that they be taken immediately to the Government Health Centre in Lisa for medical evaluation and treatment.

The suspect was subsequently detained pending further investigation and the receipt of the medical report.

Subsequently on Monday, October 12, 2026, following preliminary investigations, the case file and the suspect were handed over to the Ifo Area Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The State Commander urged members of the public to resolve disagreements peacefully and report incidents of violence promptly to the appropriate authorities. He also emphasised the importance of protecting children and ensuring that allegations of violence are thoroughly investigated by the relevant authorities.
