Suspect Arrested After Alleged Church Burglary Attempt in Ifo.

Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 31-year-old man, Babajide Usman, over an alleged burglary at Glorious Christian Bible Church, Ayede, Ifo.

The State Commander, Cmdr. (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, in a statement issued through the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, said the suspect was arrested at about 8am on Monday, September 28, 2026, after allegedly returning to the church premises to commit another theft.

According to the statement, Usman had allegedly entered the church through the fence the previous night and removed copper pipes connected to four air-conditioning units, which he later sold to scrap dealers.

The statement added that the suspect returned to the church on Monday morning, allegedly intending to steal roofing sheets, but was apprehended by So-Safe operatives. He was subsequently handed over, alongside the recovered exhibit, to the Ifo Police Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The State Commander commended the Area Commander, Coker-Ibogun Area Command, ACC David Sanni, and his personnel for their vigilance and prompt response.

He also urged churches, businesses and residents to strengthen their security measures and report suspicious activities promptly to security agencies.
