Kano Assembly validates three health Bills to improve healthcare delivery

The Kano State House of Assembly has validated three key health-sector Bills aimed at strengthening healthcare governance and improving service delivery across the state.

The Bills are the Kano State Primary Health Care

 Management Board Bill, Drug and Medical Consumables Supply Agency Bill, and Health Training Institute Bill. They were validated at the end of a three-day legislative workshop held in Kaduna State, with the theme, “Strengthening the Legal and Institutional Framework for Effective Healthcare Delivery in Kano State: Legislative Engagement, Harmonization and Reform.”

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Speaker of the Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, represented by the Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bello Butu-Butu, commended stakeholders for their contributions. Falgore described the validation of the Bills as a significant step towards strengthening health-sector governance and improving healthcare delivery in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, alongside heads of relevant health agencies and training institutions, also emphasised the need for laws capable of addressing emerging healthcare challenges and providing clear institutional direction for the sector.
