Traffic Violators, Recover Stolen Vehicles, Arrest Robbery Suspects

OGUN POLICE CRACK DOWN ON CRIME, Nab 89 

The Ogun State Police Command has intensified its preventive policing campaign with a series of coordinated operations that led to the arrest of robbery suspects, the recovery of stolen vehicles and motorcycles, and the apprehension of 89 motorists for number plate violations. The operations, carried out across the state under the directive of Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, align with the nationwide enforcement order of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, targeting vehicles operating without registration plates or with covered, altered or obscured number plates.

Police authorities said the statewide enforcement exercise resulted in the interception of 89 vehicles found to be in breach of traffic and security regulations, with offenders subjected to appropriate legal and administrative sanctions, including prosecution where necessary. According to the Command, the initiative is aimed at enhancing vehicle traceability, strengthening intelligence gathering and denying criminal elements the anonymity often exploited in the commission of crimes, while reinforcing public safety across Ogun State.

In separate anti-crime operations, operatives of the Ogere Division, working with the Ogun State So-Safe Corps, local vigilantes and community members, foiled an armed robbery attack at Akuro Phase I, Ogere Remo, recovering two stolen motorcycles after the suspects abandoned them during a tactical chase. One suspect, Abdulsalam Adam, was arrested, while a knife, an expended cartridge and a broken padlock were recovered as exhibits. Similarly, officers of the Ajuwon Division recovered a stolen Toyota Camry after responding to a robbery incident at Baale Akinosi Area, where hoodlums carted away phones, jewellery, a laptop and other valuables. One suspect, Israel Salako, was arrested, while efforts to apprehend other fleeing gang members continue.

Commending the officers for their professionalism and swift operational response, CP Ojajuni reaffirmed the Command's commitment to intelligence-led and community-driven policing through sustained patrols, strategic stop-and-search operations and rapid response to distress calls. He urged motorists to comply with vehicle registration regulations and advised residents to remain security conscious by avoiding unregistered commercial vehicles and providing timely information to security agencies. The Commissioner assured residents that the Command would sustain pressure on criminal elements to ensure the continued safety of lives and property across Ogun State.
