The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, on Thursday intensified efforts to strengthen community policing and enhance security collaboration across the state with a strategic familiarisation tour of the Sagamu and Owode Egba Area Commands.
The tour featured engagements with traditional rulers, local government officials, corporate organisations, community stakeholders and police personnel as part of the Command's commitment to promoting proactive policing and sustainable public safety through partnership.
The tour commenced with a courtesy visit to the Akarigbo of Remoland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi (CFR), Torungbuwa II, where the Commissioner appreciated the monarch for his consistent support for the Nigeria Police and appealed for sustained collaboration in tackling security challenges.
The royal father commended the professionalism and dedication of officers of the Ogun State Police Command, describing the existing relationship between the police and communities in Remoland as cordial and effective while pledging his continued support for peace and security.
At the Sagamu Area Command, CP Ojajuni held an interactive meeting with community leaders, members of the Ogun State Hunters Association and police officers, where he praised residents and stakeholders for their commitment to intelligence sharing despite the heavy rainfall that accompanied the event. He also commended officers for their outstanding performance during the recent Lagos-Ogun joint security operation, codenamed Operation Kosaye, urging them to remain disciplined, professional and committed to safeguarding lives and property. The Commissioner later commissioned a newly renovated office at the Sagamu Divisional
Headquarters alongside retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Peter Babatunde Ogunyanwo and representatives of Lafarge Sagamu, whom he applauded for their corporate social responsibility in supporting police infrastructure.
Continuing the tour, the police chief paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ambassador Adesina Ogunshola Lanre, FCPA, where discussions centred on strengthening security in one of the state's largest industrial corridors.
The council chairman commended the Command's efforts in maintaining peace and security across the area. At the Owode Egba Area Command Headquarters, CP Ojajuni commended the strong collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions and community leaders, noting that the success of Operation Kosaye had reinforced the Command's resolve to deny criminal elements safe haven within Ogun State while calling for sustained stakeholder support.
The familiarisation tour ended with a visit to the TGI Industrial Complex at the Sagamu Interchange, where the Commissioner met with the company's management led by the General Manager of Operations, Mr Miranda Grande. CP Ojajuni stressed that investment, employment generation and effective policing remain critical tools in crime prevention and economic development, while commending the organisation's corporate social responsibility initiatives. In response, the company's management appreciated the Ogun State Police Command for its sustained efforts in improving security around the interchange and other strategic locations across the state, reaffirming its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote a safer environment for businesses and residents.
