The Head of the Board of Trustees and State President of the Hunters Association, Chief Mouftau Oseni has urged communities to place greater emphasis on child welfare, social support and justice, stressing that every child deserves an opportunity to grow in a safe and caring environment.
Speaking during an engagement Nstv crew Chief Mouftau said the association remains committed to protecting vulnerable children and supporting families facing hardship.
He explained that the group is working to ensure that children receive proper care, nutrition and guidance to enable them to become responsible members of society.
He noted that many families continue to face severe economic challenges, making it difficult for parents and farmers to meet their daily needs. According to him, rising financial pressures have affected livelihoods, while access to banking and other essential services has also become increasingly challenging for many residents.
The community leader further called on citizens to obey the law and seek justice through legitimate legal channels whenever disputes arise. He stressed the importance of unity, mutual support and respect for constituted authority, adding that communities can only achieve sustainable development when residents work together for the common good.
Chief Mouftau also appealed for increased assistance to unemployed persons and other vulnerable groups, saying targeted interventions would help reduce poverty and improve living conditions. He encouraged community members to continue supporting one another, especially women, children and families experiencing economic hardship.
On security, the association's president said local hunters and registered vigilante groups have continued to complement government efforts in safeguarding lives and property.
He, however, maintained that all security volunteers must operate strictly within the law, respect human rights and avoid unlawful acts, while calling on government to strengthen community policing initiatives and provide lawful support for grassroots security operations.
