The Ogun 1 Area Command of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), says it has intercepted contrabands with a Duty Paid Value of N721m in the first 28 days of January, 2026.

The seized items include 1,042 bags of smuggled rice weighing 50kg each, 3,738 parcels of cannabis sativa,780 used tyres, 2unit of locally made riffles, 198 pieces of cartridges, 473 kegs of PMS (11,825 liters), 6used vehicles and one means of conveyance.

Others are four sacks 25kg of Caffeine Ahydrous, 72 packs soduku plant extraction Toothpaste- 120g, 84 Soduku Vitamin D 108g each and 2 pieces of traditional carvings.

The Acting Area Comptroller, Controller Olukayode Afeni, made this known on Thursday, in a press conference at the commands headquarters, Idiroko

Afeni noted that the feat was achieved through a robust collaboration with all government agencies in Idiroko-Igolo border, host communities, traditional institutions and other sister agencies.

He added that the command collected and remitted the sum of N106bn to the federation account which is above what was generated same month last year with N 89.6M which represent 84.3% increment.

He revealed that the command in year 2025 made a total of 487 seizures at a total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N4.1bn, while the duty paid value of corresponding year 2024 was N1,791,007,246.

The Comptroller noted that the intercepted parcels of cannabis sativa were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Idiroko special command, while 2,128 red star cartridges, 1,315 pieces of iordin explosives, 11 units of Dane guns, 2 units of revolver pistol and two locally made guns and subsequently handed over to six Narcotics, Arms, and regulated products to the NDLEA, the

National Center for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, (NCCSALW) South West Zone. as well as NAFDAC.
